With a stated desire to build the world's best search engine, Yahoo announced their plans for the future of Yahoo Search. Currently, Yahoo is working on 50 different projects for its search. Yesterday, speaking at the company's analyst day, Yahoo outlined it goals for the future of Yahoo search.

Some of the innovations Yahoo is working on include improving local search, offering personalized searches, and according to SFGate.com, "searches more deeply integrated into the company's Web site."

Up until February 2004, Yahoo's results were provided by Google. The companies parted ways as the competition for web users grew. When Yahoo stopped using Google for search results, they unveiled their very own search engine. Terry Semel, Yahoo's chief executive, said, "we thrive on competition, and the winners of competition will be our users."

As Google evolves more into a portal than a search engine, Yahoo is concentrating on the field that made Google such a common name - its search engine.
