Now that Ask Jeeves' acquisition of ISH is complete, the number 5 search engine has stated what it plans to do with the web properties that it gained during the purchase. The buy gives Jeeves control over Excite, iWon, My Way, My Search, My WebSearch, and the MaxOnline ad network.
Steve Berkowitz, CEO of Ask Jeeves said of the purchase: "This acquisition doubles our market share and enhances our ability to compete in the fast-growing search market."
As reported in the Oakland Tribune, Ask Jeeves plans on keeping the aforementioned sites together. Berkowitz said, "ISH is going away but its brands are staying and its brands are now part of Ask Jeeves." One of the sites that Jeeves now controls, iWon.com, had daily $10,000 giveaways. Jeeves plans on keeping these promotions while updating iWon's search engine to the Teoma technology that Ask.com uses. Jeeves also plans on remarketing iWon.
According to industry experts, Ask Jeeves' estimates the "company's 2004 sales will be $267.1 million, fueled by strong growth in Internet advertising." Ask.com has an advertising agreement with Google.
